RIP Walt Poddubny 1960-2009

Walt Poddubny had a brief stay with the NY Rangers. However, his stay was memorable. In 1986, he made his Ranger debut, and went on to score 40 goals that season to go along with 49 assists. In 1987, he would follow up his 86 season with 38 goals and 50 assists. He was the recipient of the New York Rangers Fan Club's Frank Boucher Trophy for the most popular player on and off the ice in both years and the team's Most Valuable Player Award from the Professional Hockey Writers Association in 1987.

These stats in today's game would put him in the elite echelon of players. Its truly a sad day when we lose a member of the Ranger Family.

Walt, my thoughts and prayers go out to our family, and here's to you skating on the big rink upstairs.
